Professor Doris F. Chang |
Jennifer Suero, M.A.
I am currently a 2nd year doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology program, hoping to graduate in 2008. I was born and raised in Long Island , New York . I pursued undergraduate study at Temple University followed by Long Island University , Brooklyn campus, where I eventually graduated with a BA in psychology. Clinically, I have worked at the PINS (Person in Need of Supervision) Program doing crisis intervention and family assessments on clients referred from family court. In addition, I have worked in the areas of risk prevention and family guidance and am currently providing individual and family therapy.
As a biculturally identified Hispanic-American of Costa Rican and Columbian parents, my own cultural identification and practices inform my academic and clinical interests. My areas of interest include cross-cultural psychology; minority group and identity development, which include racial, ethnic and gay and lesbian identity development; and the impact of culture, race and ethnicity on the therapeutic alliance and psychotherapy process. Currently, I am working with Dr. Chang as the Project Coordinator of the "Process and Outcome in Cross-Racial Therapy Dyads" study. In my spare time, I enjoy computer gaming, a relaxing night walk in downtown NYC, renovating old wooden furniture and playing with my wizard-of-a-cat, Merlin! |
