2005 UNIVERSITY ART COLLECTION WRITING AWARD

The Vera List Center for Art and Politics announces a call for entries for the 2005 University Art Collection Writing Award. Established in 1996 by the late Vera List, a life trustee of New School University, the award honors the best critical and creative essays inspired by the University Art Collection. All students enrolled in the university are eligible to submit work. Entries can be nonfiction or fiction, prose or poetry, and should be no more than ten double-spaced, typed pages, submitted as an attachment via e-mail. Each page should include the writer’s name, address, e-mail, and phone number. The name of the artist, the title and the date of the artwork (or group of artworks) should be listed in the heading of the first page. On request, a list of the publicly displayed works in the collection will be made available. A rotating panel of judges selects two first-place awards of $400 (one for the best critical response and one for the best creative response), one second place award of $200, and one third place of $100. Awards will be announced at the end of the spring semester through the New School Observer. All submissions should be sent via e-mail to kuonic@newschool.edu and must be received by Friday, April 15, 2005. For additional information, e-mail or call 212-229-2436.
