TAX FILING PREPARATION AND CINTAX SOFTWARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILING TAXES
The United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS) requires that you submit tax returns by April 15, 2004. State and city tax offices use this same deadline. The ISS tax center will open outside ISS on Wednesday March 16th, 2005. Please visit ISS to find out more information.
USE CINTAX (Formerly NRAWARE!)
Visit International Student Services to get the log in info for New School University students.
You will need to use a recent version of Internet Explorer with Java script enabled.
TAX WORKSHOP - Write down your questions and bring to the March 30th tax workshop from 11:45am - 1:45pm (located at 65 Fifth Ave./GF Building, Swayduck Auditorium in lobby floor). Please RSVP for this workshop by sending an email to iss@newschool.edu Be sure to include your name and student ID#.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
FREEMAN ASSIST PROGRAM FOR ASIAN UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS IN THE UNITED STATES
WITH SUMMER NON-PROFIT INTERNSHIPS
The Freeman ASSIST Program helps students to pursue internships that do not provide salary
support adequate to cover their living expenses, and provides web-based information to assist
them in locating appropriate internships. The program seeks to facilitate greater interaction
between young Asian students and U.S. non-profit and community groups by creating paths
for sharing experiences and enhancing mutual understanding.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: March 30, 2005.

METRO INTERNATIONAL UPCOMING EVENTS - GLOBAL CLASSROOM
Become a global classroom speaker! International students and scholars have the opportunity to visit public schools all over New York City. Come speak to groups of elementary, middle or high school students and teachers. Join Global Classroom and exchange your home country culture with young people while you learn the local culture of NYC. Global classroom offers you the opportunity to meet with NYC teachers and students; Learn about the U.S. education system; Create a presentation about your home country & culture; Meet other international students from around the world. The training workshop for Global Classroom will teach you valuable skills such as improving your public speaking skills and prepare you to deliver an interactive presentation.
-There will be a Naval Academy Foreign Affairs Conference in Maryland from April 11-15, 2005. This is an opportunity for everyone to represent his or her respective countries in an organized seating arrangement.

New SEVIS Fee - Apply For Your Visa Now!
A new SEVIS fee has been approved. The $100 fee will apply to applicants who are seeking visa status as F-1, F-3, M-1, M-3 or as J-1 non immigrant exchange visitors, who are initially issued a form I-20 or a form DS-2019 on or after September 1st, 2004. The fee must be paid in US currency prior to applying for a visa. Students and visitors will have the option to pay with a check by mail or with a credit card or through a third party, either in the United States or abroad.
We anticipate that this may delay visa applications for new internationals who wish to begin programs in the Fall. So if you have not applied for your visa, please hurry.
