Americans for Informed Democracy Conference

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR "YOUNG GLOBAL LEADERS SUMMIT"

Students at New School interested in global security issues are invited to apply for a one-day conference in Washington, D.C., called "The Young Global Leaders Summit: Think Outside the Bomb." The summit aims to encourage today's young leaders to view the pursuit of nonproliferation and disarmament as the special mission of their generation. Thanks to the generous support of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, DarMac Foundation, and Hewlett Foundation, the summit (including tuition and meals) is free for selected students.

At the summit, young leaders with a demonstrated commitment to public service will engage in workshops and discussions aimed at equipping them with the tools to effectively educate and raise support for non-proliferation and disarmament on their campuses and in their communities. Students will also have the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with a diverse group of young leaders, equipping them with the knowledge, support and structure to implement these ideas in their neck of the woods. Click here http://www.aidemocracy.org/Initiative.cfm?initiative_id=nov5 to see the schedule of the conference.

The student conference is cosponsored by Americans for Informed Democracy http://www.aidemocracy.org (AID) the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation http://www.wagingpeace.org/ (NAPF). AID is a non-partisan organization working to raise global awareness on more than 250 U.S. university campuses and in more than 10 countries. AID was originally started in September of 2002 by Marshall and Rhodes scholars at Oxford University who sought a new vehicle to bring the world home to Americans and it has quickly become the premiere network for globally conscious young leaders to connect with one
another, the general public, media, and policymakers. NAPF initiates and supports worldwide efforts to abolish nuclear weapons, to strengthen international law and institutions, to use technology responsibly and sustainably, and to empower youth to create a more peaceful world.

To apply: Since the number of free spaces available for the student conference is limited, participants are being chosen by competitive application. Interested students should send a resume and brief cover letter to globalsummit@aidemocracy.org. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis through midnight on November 3, and applicants will be
notified within 48 hours of submission if they have been selected to attend.
