IMMEDIATE INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
Girls Write Now Inc. is a nonprofit volunteer mentoring organization that has been matching bright, creative teenage girls from New York City’s public high schools with professional women writers in the community since 1998. Through regular one-on-one mentoring sessions, monthly genre-based workshops held at Teachers & Writers Collaborative on Union Square, and special fieldtrips and events, the program provides a safe and supportive environment where girls can expand their natural writing talents, develop independent creative voices, and build confidence in making healthy choices in school, career, and life. For more information about our organization, visit our website at www.girlswritenow.org.
We are currently seeking interns to assist with curriculum development, grant research, workshop and event planning, and various administrative duties. Strong writers with a keen interest in literature, youth education, and/or women's issues will have the opportunity to network with a wide-range of talented female writers, get hands-on teaching experience with underserved teens, and grow with an exciting non-profit community. Availability requested for full-day monthly Saturday workshops.
Interested students can send resume and cover letter to Maya Nussbaum: maya@girlswritenow.org. Contact Caroline Berger, bergerc@newschool.edu for more information.
