WRITING DEMOCRACY: new undergrad writing program, Info. Session: 4/19 @ 5:30pm

The Writing Program is very excited to announce a new program for undergraduate degree students, the Writing Democracy Program. The program consists of a one-year sequence of writing workshops, literature seminars, and the Writer’s Life Colloquium, a series of readings and other public events.

*Workshops are limited to 12 students.

*For the first time, Bachelors students may study with MFA faculty members including Francine Prose, Helen Schulman, Lynne Tillman, and other acclaimed poets, novelists, and nonfiction writers.

*Students have the chance read in student showcases, to publish in a literary magazine documenting work done in the program, and to become part of a lively new community.

*The first 36 students who are enrolled in and complete both semesters of the sequence will be awarded $2,000 scholarships.

The Writing Democracy Program at The New School will begin in the fall of 2006. If you are interested, please attend the information session on Wednesday, April 19 at 5:30 p.m. in the 11th St. cafeteria. Pizza and refreshments will be served.
