THE BODY: ETHOS & ETHICS

The Body: Ethos & Ethics is a two-day International Symposium devoted to contemporary theoretical and moral issues concerning the human body and gender. The symposium is organized by Terri Gordon, Assistant Professor of Comparative Literature at The New School, and David Lee Carlson, Assistant Professor of English Education at Hunter College-CUNY, in association with The Foucault Society

Topics include medical tracking and surveillance, veiling, gay marriage, transgendering, and gendered violence on a local and global scale. Participants include Ladelle McWhorter, Victoria Pitts, Jana Sawicki, Dianna Taylor, Karen Vintges, and other scholars, activists, and artists from the U.S. and abroad.
