Girls Write Now Inc. INTERNSHIP POSITION
Girls Write Now Inc. is seeking an intern to assist with curriculum development, grant research, workshop and event planning, and various administrative duties. Strong writers with a keen interest in literature, youth education, and/or women's issues will have the opportunity to grow with an exciting non-profit community, network with a wide range of professional female writers, and gain hands-on teaching experience with urban youth. Must be able to firmly commit to a 2-day work schedule for a total of 6-10 hours per week.
Girls Write Now Inc. is a nonprofit volunteer mentoring organization that has been matching bright, creative teenage girls from New York City’s public high schools with professional women writers in the community since 1998. Through regular one-on-one mentoring sessions, monthly genre-based workshops held at Teachers & Writers Collaborative, and special fieldtrips and events, the program provides a safe and supportive environment where girls can expand their natural writing talents, develop independent creative voices, and build confidence in making healthy choices in school, career, and life.
